Struggles of Calvary chapel part 4

Who is Brian Broderson?

Brian Broderson was the son-in-law of Chuck Smith and basically took over Chuck’s role in the church on a national level when Chuck died. He also took over Calvary chapels radio stations and ownership over the name Calvary Chapel. I came across a video on YouTube of Brian giving a message around the time of the covid pandemic. He said “that Christians were more concerned about their rights being trampled on, than loving their neighbors and complying with California pandemic restrictions”. This included the closing of churches, but also excluded the closing of strip clubs and liquor stores. What a hypocritical statement. This is also a typical Calvary chapel pastor, gaslighting session, where he appeals to the emotions of the people instead of biblical truth. I witnessed this type of gaslighting myself when I was a part of a Calvary chapel. To see these statements by Brian Broderson you can go on YouTube and search. This pastor needs to repent or quit.!!! The video is presented by James Kaddis. You will see in this video that Brian is very left, leaning and has favorable opinions of democratic governor Gavin Newsom.

Brian is also known for causing much division within Calvary chapel, by forming his own organization which split the denomination completely in half. Brian is also known for his ecumenical alignments with the NAR movement which seeks to bring Muslims and Catholics into the body of Christ for the sake of unity. Brian and Calvary Chapel has also partnered with speakers and pastors from Hillsong, elevation Church run by heretic Steven Furtick, who says you can breathe in the Holy Spirit and preaches the little god’s doctrine in which he claims that we are gods ourselves and even was as bold to proclaim and say, in one of his sermons, that “I am the Lord God Almighty” referring to himself . Brian is also known to align himself with other ecumenical organizations like creation fest where he has promoted NAR training schools, and partnered with the church of England. You can read about some of these statements on the Berean research website the article is called connecting the NAR dots. And another article on the same site is called Calvary chapels Brian Broderson tells pastors to tone it down. This article is about preaching against homosexuality, and how Brian thinks it is OK to attend homosexual weddings. The article about Brian promoting NAR schools is on a website called emergent watch and the article is called Brian Broderson’s creation fest soliciting for NAR schools.

Brian has also been accused by fellow Calvary Chapel affiliates of being power-hungry and wanting to centralizepower to just a few people. From what I understand the problem is that Brian supposedly owns the Calvary Chapel name, and the radio stations and other types of media so it would be nearly impossible to get him to resign or push him out as some calvary chapel affiliates have tried in the past.

The fact that this denomination cannot come together in some sort of unity just shows that they have no foundation to be a denomination or a church altogether. What’s it gonna take for people to wake up?the money scandals, the sex scandals, the spiritual abuse, the legal power plays.

1 Corinthians 5:1-2 KJV
It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. [2] And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.

Do we need to be reminded that sexual scandals should not be celebrated, but those responsible be removed from the church immediately?

I gave a scripture earlier that talked about how shameful it is for Christians to take each other to court but yet Calvary Chapel is known for taking legal action, not only against each other, but against anyone who speaks out against them.

Calvary Chapel has forgotten the example of Christ as the many pastors who practiced the Moses model of government there, Lord over the people, but listen to what the Scriptures say

Matthew 20:25-28 KJV
But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. [26] But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; [27] And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: [28] Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

That is the example of Christ not anything close to what Calvary Chapel does.

No, I am not saying that all Calvary Chapel pastors are bad. I am sure that there are some good ones and I know some good ones that have come out from under the affiliation of Calvary Chapel that are solid. Again, like I said, in the beginning of my article, my problem is not with the congregants of Calvary Chapel but it’s many corrupt pastors.

In part five of my article, I will document some conversations that I’ve had with people from Calvary Chapel about all the controversy. Until then be blessed in Jesus name.
