1 Timothy 2:11-14 KJV
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. [12] But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. [13] For Adam was first formed, then Eve. [14] And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.
There is a lot of debate in church circles about if women can be pastors? Although there should not be because the word of God in this passage clearly says No! The passage even gives the reasons why women can not be in this role 1. Adam was formed before Eve 2. Eve was deceived and Adam was not.
That should be the end of the debate but for people who are in favor of women pastors it is not. Let me share with you some common arguments in favor of women pastors and then I will explain why they are incorrect. Deborah was a judge and prophetess over Israel. This is a bad example because the only reason Deborah was a judge was because Israel was corrupt. So God gave them over to their own corruption by giving them a women judge. The judges are also a bad example because all of them failed Israel miserably.
The other argument I hear is the the Samaritan women at the well who went and told everyone in her village about Jesus. Well isn’t that like a pastor? No! She was actually proclaiming Jesus to unbelievers which the bible commands all believers to do. Women are not restricted from sharing the gospel they just can’t be pastors.
Another argument I hear is the bible says women will see visions and prophecy does that mean they will speak in the church? In my opinion I don’t think so. There are some that will disagree with me on this but there are other places besides the church to share visions and prophecies like a home bible study or women’s group. But these visions and prophecies must be in line with the word of God or they are false.
The last one I can think of and I am not saying these are the only arguments for women pastors is what about the women that were involved in the apostle Paul’s ministry?This argument is a mystery to me and probably the weakest argument because nowhere in scripture does it say a women preached to and taught men. Women had a vital and important role as helpers to Paul’s ministry but none of them taught men or fulfilled a role as pastor. One last scripture passage to seal the deal and you will know that even when popular church movements endorse women pastors you will know this is not possible.
1 Timothy 3:1-2 KJV
This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work. [2] A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
In closing the final reason a women can not be pastor is a pastor must be the husband of one wife. That is impossible for a women to achieve at least biblically. So if you are in favor of women pastors I hope this will make you see the error of your ways and repent. God has his order of things and he doesn’t need us narrow minded sinners correcting his perfect will.
